Are you looking to start your holiday season off with a bang? If so, look no further than the Annual Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade which marches through the heat of Midtown Manhattan each and every November! The city of New York has been a part of this annual celebration for nearly 80 years now, attracting millions of viewers from throughout the city and across the nation! Whether youre watching the festivities live from the parade route, or simply tuning into your television set at home, the Macys Thanksgiving Parade is one of Americas favorite family traditions. AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City highly recommends catching the celebration live as a part of your upcoming Thanksgiving vacation to NYC, so dont forget to set your alarm clock extra early! Festivities get underway at 9am on the morning of the parade, so grab a friend and get ready to ring in the holiday season with Macys and the Thanksgiving Day crew!
The Route
The Annual Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade follows a fairly simple route through the citys Midtown neighborhood. Customers of AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City are highly encouraged to avoid streets located within one block of the parade course as these thoroughfares are often crowded with pedestrians, personal and other parade paraphernalia. Customers interested in watching the parade through its entirety are encouraged to set up shop anywhere along the route, especially near the Central Park starting point. Floats in the parade travel down Central Park West from 77th Street straight through to Columbus Square (59th Street at Broadway), before turning down Broadway and finishing up at Macys Herald Square on 34th Street. In order to secure prime viewing spots it is recommended that customers of AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City arrive at the parade route as early as 6:30am. Parade viewers are encouraged to bring plenty of warm clothes as well as a thermos full of hot cocoa or coffee. The parade normally lasts for three hours.
Prime Viewing Locations
There are currently four prime public viewing areas located along the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade route. These include:
- Anywhere along Central Par West the best seats can be found on the west side of the Street from 70th Street to Columbus Circle and on the east side of the street from 70th to 65th.
- Columbus Circle Customers of AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City can find great seats on the west side of the circle.
- Along Broadway Good spots are located between 58th and 38th Streets.
- 34 Street AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City highly recommends finding a spot here as this is where the parade cumulates. Great views can be secured from the south side of the street anywhere between Broadway and 7th Avenue (note: these spots are always the first to go so be sure to get there quick!)
Alternative Viewing
If youd rather not spend the morning outside in the cold, customers of AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City can also opt to view the parade from the comfort of a hotel room. Many of the hotels along the route offer rooms with unobstructed views of the parade. These hotels include the Marriott Marquis, the Renaissance NY, the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, the Novotel, the Ameritania, Trump International and the Mayflower on the Park. The best views come from rooms no higher than the 12th floor so be sure to specify when making your reservation. Customers of AAMCAR Car Rentals in New York City can also opt to watch the parade from the comfort of their living room couches by tuning into the NBC television station.
